About Me
Having practised as a Solicitor with a leading City law-firm for 15 years
(including 2 years living and work abroad), I retrained as a Counsellor and
underwent a rigorous post-graduate training at the University of Reading, where
I attained an MA in Counselling (Distinction).
I have had extensive clinical experience, having worked in the voluntary sector
(including two University Counselling Services), primary care and in private
practice. I work with individuals, both adults and young people, from diverse
social and cultural backgrounds, on a wide range of issues. I offer both long-term
psychotherapy and short-term solution-focused counselling.
I am an accredited member of the British Association
for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the main professional body for counselling and psychotherapy. It
operates a strict code of ethics and complaints procedure, which are designed
to uphold the highest standards of professional practice and confidentiality. I
hold Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance. I am also required
to have regular ongoing supervision (during which non-identifiable client material
is discussed) and to keep up-to-date through continuing professional development. My
most recent training includes:
- CBT for Counsellors already trained within a non-CBT modality
- Counselling in Educational Settings
- Brief Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
- Working Psychodynamically with Drug and Alcohol Users
I am a UKRC registered independent practitioner, a member of the Association
for University and College Counselling (AUCC) and Secretary of Reading
Therapies Group.
